Good, lightweight camera
First off, I only wanted this camera because I don't own a cell phone. My husband's iphone takes as good a picture as this camera and is easier to use, so I kind of wonder who this camera is marketed to, besides people like me (phoneless people, of which I am the only one I know).
Anyhow, I was attracted by the feature that allows you to upload the photos without using a card or cord. It turns out you DO need a card. Yes, I'm sure I'm one of the few idiots not to know this. Why the camera did not come with a freaking card is beyond me. Seriously, I live in the sticks. I got the camera, and then needed to make a trip to the nearest town to buy a card. It reminded me of those Christmas mornings when you opened a toy and had no batteries. Yes, call the waaambulance.
The other camera I have uses a larger style card, so now I have two sizes. This is not what I wanted, more electronic junk. The booklet shows a unit you can stick a small card inside of, to make it a big card. I couldn't find one of those locally, but it probably isn't an issue if you live in a larger town or city, or don't mind waiting to order it on Amazon. If I were camera savvy I would have recognized the different card sizes by reading the product description. I didn't.
The camera is easy to set up and I was able to send photos to my laptop. That said, it wasn't worth it for me. My old camera takes good enough photos and it's not that much more of a hassle to stick the card in the side and download the pics.
I don't take 'selfies' (I don't even like typing the word 'selfie') so the 'selfie' feature is not a plus for me.

Small and simple with surprisingly good photo quality.Samsung's Dual View digital camera is tiny, easy to use, and takes nice photos.The Samsung is quite small. It's about the size of a deck of playing cards and is very light. It's easy to stash into a pocket or purse. It's also well put together. It is made completely of plastic (even the tripod), but the plastics are well finished and it's very nicely assembled. Not only is it tiny and well made but also it is very stylish and modern looking. Included with the Samsung are a wrist strip, a USB cable (for both charging and data transfer), and an AC adaptor.Using the Samsung is easy. The buttons on the camera are minimal and easy to understand. The menu system, too, is pretty straightforward. I was able to turn on the Samsung, navigate the menu, and start shooting without consulting the owner's manual. Moreover, little explanations pop-up on the screen to explain the different menu settings. The large rear-screen is bright and easy to see, but the resolution is low. The front screen is tiny but it works well for self portraits, and serves as a visual countdown timer when you have the self timer on. You can even have it play a little animated video so it's easier to keep a child's attention while you take pictures.Features-wise the Samsung is pretty well equipped. It has a full automatic mode, a bunch of scene modes, and a handful of filters and special shooting modes. It also has a program mode, but no manual mode. The program mode gives you access to ISO speed, metering, white balance (including is custom setting), adjustments for contrast, saturation, and sharpness, and the ability to do exposure bracketing. The lens has decent specs. It is a 5x zoom, a 25mm wide angle, and a modestly bright f/2.5 maximum aperture. This means you can fit more in the photo at wide angle, which is great for interior shots, and it lets in more light than most cameras, which is good in low light shooting. One huge omission from the feature set is optical image stabilization. The Samsung has electronic stabilization, but that is a poor substitute for the real thing, and will result in more blurry photos in low light, or from shaky hands. Exacerbating the problem is that the Samsung will not shoot above ISO 400 in auto ISO mode, meaning that at times shutter speeds can be very slow.The Samsung isn't a speedy camera. It's about average overall. It turns on, focuses, and is ready to take the next photo at good speeds, but navigating the menus is sluggish, and continuous shooting speeds are slow at about 1 shot every second. The Wi-Fi feature works well and I was able to download the app for my iPhone 5s and start automatically transferring photos to my iPhone's camera roll within minutes. It took about 10 seconds for each photo to transfer. They transfer automatically as you shoot, but you have to have the app open on your phone for it to work.Photo quality is surprisingly good considering the Samsung's low price. At low ISO speeds photos shine with good sharpness and detail, nice color, and great contrast. From ISO 80 - ISO 400 you can shoot without reservation. ISO 800 is okay, but ISO 1600 and 3200 are blotchy messes, while ISO 3200 has a serious lack of color saturation as well. The lens is very sharp in the center at both telephoto and wide angle, but the edges and corners are a bit soft. I didn't see much in the way of purple fringing though. Macro shooting is also good. You can get fairly close and the subjects are sharp and detailed.The Samsung's video quality is fine, but videos are not recorded in full high-definition or with stereo sound. You can use the optical zoom during filming though.Battery life is high and I was able to take 50 photos, a couple of videos, and lots of menu navigating and the battery was still full.By Anthony Pantliano
